By
the power of God, working through our letters, we know
that we will see a decrease in repeat incarcerations, and
an increase in their experiencing the life changing power
of the grace of Jesus Christ as they learn to walk closer
with Him. Our hope is to infuse a desire to turn to
God for the healing of their heart and life issues,
through being at peace with God. Our desire is to
minister the hope and joy we have come to know in our own
relationship with the Lord, through our letters of
compassion "for the least of these my
brothers."
For
someone who is incarcerated, receiving a letter from
anyone, even someone they have never met before, can be
life-changing. Many inmates get no visitations from
family or friends, so the next best thing is receiving a
letter. A penpal may be the only contact an inmate
has with the outside.
House of
Hope/Unchained for Christ has a letter writing ministry to
many inmates. This is a non-threatening
ministry. This is a ministry where volunteers can
try it and see if they like to do this very important
ministry. And this is a ministry that can be done
without a large time commitment.
Please open
or download and read the document listed below to find out
how easy it is to be a pen pal. For those of you who
are a bit apprehensive about helping a jail/prison
ministry in this way, the document will explain how safe it is. |
